November 10, 1982 The Vietnam Memorial Opens to the Public

Click here to see the NY Times front page and text of their coverage on that day.  It seems to hard to believe today, but there was controversy surrounding the memorial.  Today, the Wall is one of the most visited sites in Washington, DC and is maintained and supported by the 4th Battalion, 9th infantry regiment of the US Army.
