October 13, 1792 The White House Cornerstone Ceremony is Held

Yet another piece of DC history that has direct connections to the Freemasons.  You’ll find some interesting facts here – including the connection to Friday the 13th and information on the architect who won the competition to design the White House.   James Hoban was a newly arrived immigrant from Ireland who became an important member of the DC community and the founder of the city’s first Masonic lodge.
