October 11, 2002 Former President Jimmy Carter Wins the Nobel Peace Prize

Although he was only a one-term President, his legacy and his achievements were far more complicated than the simplified version we tend to hear these days.    The Nobel committee awarded him based on his work around the world after his time as President.

Ironically, seven years later the Nobel gave committee gave the same award to a President who had only been in office for 9 months.
