Thanksgiving History

It started as a “harvest festival” among recently arrived Pilgrims at Mayflower and their Native American neighbors.  However, a short time later it became a Puritanical religious celebration thanking God for the harvest and war victories.  It becomes a national holiday on the last Thursday during November during the Civil War.

In modern times, it’s still about giving thanks and a time for family.   With a little American football and shop-til-you-drop thrown in.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
